Primary format policy and weekly release schedule checked October 13, 2026. September 11 policy date preserved. No in-client activation, purchase, account holdings, compensation or physical redemption was independently tested. Substantive October 13 update to the existing September 23 article; original publication date and canonical slug retained. Expanded release context and queue/card-use distinctions replace the earlier brief paragraphs.
WHY IT MATTERS
October 13 is the announced final planned Alchemy release; February 2 is the announced format-removal date. Digital-only cards have stated continued uses, subject to future bans or rebalancing.

A final planned release, not the end of access today
Wizards scheduled Alchemy: Reality Fracture for October 13, 2026. Its September 11 State of the Formats article calls it the last Alchemy release planned for MTG Arena, and the October 12 weekly announcement identifies the release for the following day.
The collector question is what that final-release description means for an existing digital collection. It does not put format retirement on October 13: Wizards names February 2, 2027 for removing the Alchemy format. This report checks the published schedule, not observed in-client product activation, account access or purchases.
The digital cards and the format have different futures
The September policy says digital-only Alchemy cards will remain on MTG Arena and be legal in Historic, Timeless, Brawl and Competitive Brawl. It also reserves the ability to ban or rebalance those cards as Wizards manages their formats. Read the continued-use statement with that qualification; it is not permanent immunity for every individual card.
A useful collection note therefore keeps the exact card title, digital-only status and intended format together. A disappearing Alchemy queue is different from deleting the card, and neither statement establishes a physical-card redemption entitlement. This release should not be treated as a paper Reality Fracture product because of the shared set name.
What Wizards schedules to remove on February 2
The announced February 2, 2027 change removes Alchemy Play, Alchemy Ladder, Alchemy Constructed and Alchemy Direct Challenge, including the Best-of-Three versions of those events. The plan ties that date to 2027 rotation alongside Nauctis: The Sunken Realm Prerelease events.
That is a defined list of format routes. Do not expand it into a claim that Historic, Timeless or the named Brawl formats are also being removed. Before choosing a future digital collecting goal, check the intended format and current card rules rather than relying only on an old Alchemy deck label.
Keep purchases separate from a playability plan
A final planned release does not establish a scarce print run, a resale value or a deadline to buy. No demand trend, financial benefit or compensation entitlement is established by this report. The sources answer release timing and format-use questions.
If you are already collecting these digital cards, preserve the exact card list and the formats in which you intend to use it. Recheck future policy changes as February approaches. Wizards’ stated ability to rebalance digital-only cards means a saved card description and the later playable version may differ.
