Primary announcement checked October 13, 2026. Format decisions are attributed to Wizards; no demand, price, deck-testing, compensation or physical-product outcome is independently established.
WHY IT MATTERS
The October 12 list changes Competitive Brawl commander eligibility and digital-only Nashi’s flash keyword. Keep format, exact title, deck position and effective date together; do not infer a physical-card price effect.

Read the format name before changing a collection record
Wizards’ October 12 banned and restricted announcement makes changes in Competitive Brawl, effective October 12, 2026. It lists no changes for Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, Alchemy, Historic, Timeless or Brawl. Competitive Brawl and ordinary Brawl are separate entries in this announcement.
For a collector who also plays, a shortened description such as Spider-Man banned omits the useful part: which format and which deck position. This report describes the announced Competitive Brawl decisions. It does not establish a new ban in paper Commander or a change in a physical card’s authenticity, grade or treatment.
The commander slot is the restriction
Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow; Spider-Man 2099; and Light-Paws, Emperor’s Voice are newly banned as commanders in Competitive Brawl. Wizards expressly says commander-only bans still allow the affected cards among the other 99 cards in the deck. A commander restriction is therefore different from excluding the card from the whole deck.
Nine previously banned cards are now only banned as commanders: Ajani, Nacatl Pariah; Nadu, Winged Wisdom; Oko, Thief of Crowns; Old Stickfingers; Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer; Rusko, Clockmaker; Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student; Wrenn and Six; and Tajic, Legion’s Valor. Keep the exact card name with the format and commander-only status when updating your play notes.
Those changes answer a deck-construction question, not a pricing question. This report has not measured completed sales or a demand change for any physical printing, and the announcement does not supply that evidence.
Nashi’s change is to a digital-only card
Wizards identifies Nashi, Illusion Gadgeteer as digital-only and says it is removing the flash keyword to rebalance the card. This is a change to that named card’s functionality, distinct from the commander-only list.
Do not use the shared character name to rewrite a record for a different Nashi card or a physical printing. Record the complete title and the relevant digital environment. The announcement gives the reason and effective date; it does not promise compensation, a physical replacement or a financial outcome for collectors.
Preserve the date and check the next decision
Use October 12 as the effective date for these announced changes, with October 13 as this report’s publication and evidence-check date. Wizards identifies November 30, 2026 as its next banned and restricted announcement. That scheduled review is not a forecast that any particular card will change again.
If a marketplace or discussion uses the word banned without those details, reopen the primary announcement before acting on it. Separate the card’s identity, the format, the deck position and the date from any claim about its market price. No account, deck submission or transaction was tested for this report.
