Updated September 28 with Wizards’ newly published Arena Direct event details and exact deadlines. The original September 23 publication date is retained. Source-based reporting by RippingPatrol Editorial; no tournament entry, gameplay or prize claim was tested.
WHY IT MATTERS
Arena packs build a digital collection. A physical prize requires a qualifying Arena Direct result, eligibility and a completed claim; entering does not buy a booster box.

Two dates, two different products
Wizards’ September 28 announcement reconfirms that Reality Fracture reaches MTG Arena on September 29. It also sets out a separate Arena Direct competition for the expansion. The distinction matters to collectors: opening ordinary Arena packs adds digital game cards, while a physical booster box is a conditional tournament prize.
The set’s Arena release and the start of that competition are separate dates. Buying digital packs does not qualify a collection for exchange into paper cards.
What the October competition requires
The published format is Best-of-One Reality Fracture Sealed, with a 6,000-gem entry fee. Each run ends at seven wins or two losses, whichever happens first. Zero to two wins earn no rewards; three to six wins earn gems and Arena packs. The seven-win reward is one physical Reality Fracture Collector Booster box, subject to supply and the rules’ cash-substitution provision.
Although the event headline says October 2–11, the detailed terms give these UTC deadlines: it starts October 2 at 15:00; signups close October 12 at 08:00; and play ends October 12 at 11:00. The stated entry-limit condition can end the event earlier. Matches already underway may finish, but no new matches begin after the end.
Treat the gem fee as the cost of a competitive entry. It does not guarantee a box, and the prize schedule alone does not establish a likely return.
Eligibility and claiming a physical prize
The rules require participants to be at least 18 or their local age of majority, whichever is older, and to hold a valid Wizards account. Participation and physical shipping have territory restrictions. The United States and United Kingdom appear on the shipping list, but readers should check the complete current terms for their own circumstances.
Wizards’ event page describes an email-led claim process after the event. It requires i-payout registration and identity verification, followed by an order through fulfillment partner Scalefast with a shipping address. Winning and receiving a box are therefore separate steps; check the claim instructions promptly.
The page allows up to three weeks for shipment after the estimated release date shown in the order confirmation. That is a shipping timetable, not a delivery promise. Wizards also notes that some import charges may fall to the recipient.
