WHY IT MATTERS

Match the promo’s finish and acquisition condition to the specific local event. An announced route is not confirmation of stock, entry or an awarded card.

Event date: . This article’s publication date is shown separately above.

Record the route as well as the card

Wizards’ October 28 Star Trek event guide announces several physical promo routes alongside the November 13 set release. A participation card, a top-finisher award and a card earned by completing a league are different collecting targets. The announcement is useful for planning; it does not establish that a particular shop has received stock or will run every listed event.

For a checklist, keep the card name, extended-art treatment, finish, event type and the local distribution conditions together. This report has not verified the collector numbers, language allocations or print runs for these targets. A photo or listing using the same character is not enough to identify the event version.

Commander participation and Showdown placement are separate

For Two-Headed Giant Commander Night and Commander Party, the announced extended-art promos are Highly Illogical, illustrated by Patricia Pria, and Munitions Enthusiast, illustrated by Remi Tacouot. Wizards says non-foil copies will be available at most WPN retailers and traditional foil copies at WPN Premium locations. It directs players to the local store for the distribution method. That distinction should stay in the record: store status and finish are not interchangeable with attendance alone.

Commander Night is scheduled within November 13, 2026–January 28, 2027. Commander Party has two announced windows, November 20–26 and January 15–21; its participation paragraph specifies either Munitions Enthusiast or Highly Illogical. Do not read the two named promos as a guaranteed pair from one event.

Standard Showdown runs within the November 13–January 28 window and names two extended-art top-finisher promos: Burst Lightning, illustrated by Néstor Ossandón Leal, and Deep Space Scan, illustrated by Leon Tukker. Wizards explicitly says stores may handle the two-card availability differently. Ask which card and award structure apply to the actual event rather than assuming participation supplies both.

League completion and convention participation have their own conditions

Magic Presents: To Boldly Go is a multiweek Sealed league in the same November 13–January 28 window. The announcement says a player who has explored all four quadrants receives an extended-art Solemn Simulacrum, illustrated by Randy Gallegos, regardless of record. The described route begins with three Starfleet Academy matches before graduation, followed by three matches in each of the four quadrants; a single visit is not the stated completion condition. Confirm the local league schedule before committing to that collection target.

The convention route is different again. Wizards’ notice says tickets for MagicCon: Atlanta, November 13–15, are sold out. For that event it announces non-foil extended-art Encounter the Unknown, illustrated by Joan Piqué Llorens, for participants in Star Trek events while supplies last, explicitly excluding PTQs and LTQs. It separately describes a traditional foil version for enlisting and climbing the ranks in Starfleet Academy League. Those are distinct conditions; the report does not verify a particular ticket, event entry or remaining supply.

Before arranging travel or trading for a promised promo, obtain the organizer’s exact event and distribution details. Record what is announced separately from what you have actually received, and identify the physical copy before comparing a listing. The collecting question is which route matches your target, not how many event names appear on the calendar.
