Radiance Pre-Rift: keeping the Heimerdinger promo does not make it part of your Sealed deck

Riot’s October 12 instructions separate five booster packs, a champion pack and the Heimerdinger promo. The promo is yours to keep, but the event’s deck-building permission is different.

WHY IT MATTERS

Record the Heimerdinger promo as its own version: Riot says it is yours to keep but excluded from the Sealed deck, while a non-promo copy opened in the packs can be played.

Event date: . This article’s publication date is shown separately above.

Separate the kit you keep from the cards you may play

Riot’s October 12 preparation notice describes Radiance Pre-Rift events beginning October 16, with a window lasting a week and individual schedules set by local stores. For a collector attending one, the useful distinction is between ownership of the kit contents and permission to put each card in the event deck.

The notice says the kit provides five Radiance booster packs, a champion pack themed around one of nine new Legends, and a Heimerdinger, Academy Instructor promo. It also says anything opened is yours to keep. That ownership statement does not override the separate restriction on the promo.

The Heimerdinger promo has an explicit restriction

Riot says the Heimerdinger promo cannot be included in the Sealed deck. If the non-promo version is pulled from the packs, that copy can be played. Do not collapse those two versions into one event-eligibility record simply because the card name matches.

For a collection checklist, record the actual version received and keep the promo separate from the cards selected for play. The preparation notice does not establish a print run, resale price, special rarity or guaranteed finish for that promo. This report does not infer any of those properties from its event role.

The champion pack is another part of the kit

The announced champion pack contains a Legend, a Rare Champion, a Battlefield and support cards for that Champion. That is a separate component from the five booster packs; it should not be described as a sixth ordinary booster or as a promise that a buyer can choose a particular Legend.

Before registering, ask the store about its actual date, availability and entry arrangements. Riot’s preparation article gives the kit structure and event rules, not a universal entry price or proof of stock at every store. A local listing and the publisher’s general window answer different questions.

Keep the event pool separate from the wider collection

The notice describes Sealed as building with the cards provided for the event rather than adding outside cards from a personal collection. It sets a minimum 25-card Main Deck and up to three domains, while giving separate allowances for Runes, tokens and substitute Battlefields. Read the complete current event instructions instead of treating the promo exclusion as the only rule.

The practical collecting record is therefore simple: identify the kit and its components, note which exact version is a promo, and preserve the instructions that applied to the event. Keeping a collectible, adding it to a legal event deck and trading it later are separate decisions. No event attendance, kit opening or store availability was tested for this report.
