WHY IT MATTERS

Keep April 9’s card-set release separate from the comic’s February digital and April physical schedule; complete format and treatment details remain necessary for an exact-card purchase.

The card set and comic do not share one release date

Wizards announced Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny on October 10, with the card set scheduled for April 9, 2027. The Universes Beyond release follows an original story developed with Marvel, rather than simply grouping existing characters under a dark-themed product name.

The same announcement says a new Marvel comic written by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly will introduce a brand-new character. Its digital release is scheduled for February 2027 and its physical release for April 2027. No exact comic publication day is given. A collector planning both books and cards should keep those entries separate: February describes the digital comic, not an advance physical-card release.

Main-set previews are not the whole product range

The article previews The Darkhold, Hela, Magik and other cards, and points readers to the set’s Card Image Gallery. It also confirms Commander decks and Scene Boxes beyond the main set. Those named formats create different collecting questions, but the announcement does not provide their complete contents or a complete card checklist.

For an exact illustration or character target, record which announced version is being shown before choosing a preorder. A character appearing in a preview is not proof that every product contains that card, or that a particular finish will appear in every format. Keep the named set and product together until the full specifications can answer that question.

Wait for treatment details before assigning a chase

Wizards says new Booster Fun treatments and refinements to earlier treatments are planned. It does not supply a final treatment map, print counts or odds table in this announcement. That is not enough evidence to label a preview the rarest version or predict which product provides the best chance of obtaining it.

The useful update is the documented release date and expanded product range, with the comic schedule kept distinct. The publisher advertises preorders, but this report does not confirm stock, retailer eligibility, total price or an independently tested order. Check the exact product’s current terms rather than treating a broad preorder link as a guarantee of a particular card.
