THE COLLECTOR’S VERDICT

Courtyard is the clearer fit to investigate for continued marketplace collecting. Rips is worth comparing for a mobile reveal-and-decide routine, provided its valuation, identity checks and potential seven-day auto-sale suit how you manage a collection.

Decide how often you will return

If you open cards occasionally and may not revisit the app for a week, the inventory rules should come before the opening animation. Courtyard combines instant packs, a vaulted collection and secondary marketplace. Rips by Triumph is an app-first product with physical delivery and a documented cash-buyback process.

A collector planning to browse singles and trade between openings has a clear reason to investigate Courtyard. A collector who prefers to reveal and manage cards on a phone has a reason to investigate Rips, while paying close attention to decision deadlines.

The buyback clock is consequential

Rips’ current FAQ describes buyback at 100% of its proprietary fair-market value at acquisition for a minimum of seven days, with exceptions for some promotional cards. It also says Triumph may automatically sell a card after seven days. Do not assume every revealed card remains available for indefinite collecting.

That percentage refers to the platform’s valuation, not the pack price or an independently verified completed sale. Courtyard offers instant Vending Machine quotes, but we did not establish a universal percentage. Compare actual net amounts rather than treating 100% as automatic evidence of a better outcome.

Follow the unwanted card to its destination

An unwanted pull can become a cash balance, a marketplace listing or a card shipped to you, depending on the platform and the action chosen. Courtyard’s secondary marketplace adds a route that is separate from accepting its immediate offer. A listed card still needs a buyer; a listing price is not cash received.

Rips documents a minimum cash withdrawal of $6. Shipping requires identity verification, and shipping charges and applicable taxes are additional. Review those requirements before committing money, especially if delivery rather than continued opening is the goal.

Keep the delivery comparison specific

Courtyard advertises international shipping, subject to destination, and free vault storage. Our research did not establish a comprehensive Rips region list. Rips’ FAQ also contains conflicting wording about insurance for higher-value cards, so this comparison does not claim who pays that insurance.

Use the checkout and current support terms to establish eligibility and the final cost. Published features can guide a shortlist, but they do not establish a tested payout speed or a completed delivery experience.

Compare the outcome, not just the opening

The best comparison starts with what you want to keep. A physical card for your binder, a graded slab in a vault and a digital game item are different products, even when the opening animation feels similar.

Read each platform’s source-linked review before committing. Product-specific terms take priority over a broad comparison, especially where a platform offers several pack formats.
